Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to Pre-School, we hope you all had a lovely Summer. We have been welcoming back our returning children and greeting new children and their families who begin their Pre-School journey with us.
Our topic this term is 'All about me'. Some of the children have been looking at themselves in the mirror and using different materials to create their own amazing faces. We have also been learning about our feelings and emotions. To help to develop our own feelings as well as to begin to understand the feelings of others we have been listening to stories and using the emotions pebbles to talk about what makes us happy, sad, worried or scared.
The children have been enjoying free-flow play that the Pre-School supports. In the outside area the children have been very physical, playing on the soft play equipment outside, learning how to move in various ways, such as practicing forward rolls, jumping, crawling - over and under, and how to stay safe by looking out for the other children. We also went to the sports court to enjoy ball play and where the children were encouraged to run with control.
Inside the children have been exploring the activities and choosing their own play. The children have enjoyed playing a few games, especially 'The shopping game', this supports listening and attention, taking turns and it's fun.
